In total, I’ve put about 10k into the truck, basically in suspension, motor and trans. Haven’t gotten around to restoring the interior or body but it’s fun as a rat rod.

I bought it in Arizona from a cop. The diesel motor quickly died so I put in a 1.8l gas engine with a 5 speed trans. Then went about making it ride and handle nice. I wanted a fast little truck to carve up canyons with. It has a tall 5th gear and cruises at 80mph on the highway all day long. The motor is very strong and the suspension is dialed in. It hooks up in corners real nice.

The interior is “unfinished” though I did replace the seats with mint ones from an old lady’s jetta.

The exterior is also “original and unfinished”, no major flaws or anything, but the rear tailgate doesn’t open, has some dents in it and there’s a bad repair at the rear tail light that needs fixing.

Right now, it’s a fast rat rod truck but has potential to be fully restored.

The car is in excellent mechanical condition. The original motor swap was performed by Scott at Stray Dog Garage and since then a ton of work was done by my a 30 year volkswagen mechanic who didn’t stop fixing things until he was confident it would be reliable, fast and safe to drive.
