I bought this VW in Germany while stationed overseas. I had it shipped by the US Army in 2010, and have the associated paperwork with this shipping. This is the only automatic Scirocco in the US, and it is completely European specs. I have all the paperwork fro everything performed on the vehicle during my ownership during the past 7 years, including some paperwork in German, from work performed while still in Germany.
I have done a lot of work to the vehicle, while still maintaining originality. The entire starting system has been rebuilt or replaced this winter, the entire brake system was rebuilt or replaced last Fall. The exhaust was redone by Springfield exhaust last Spring. Four new 90,000 miles goodyear tires were put on the car this winter. New valve gasket seal, most hoses new, most gaskets new, no leaks, and much more….
This is truly a unique, fun car to drive, as it is very sporty and has a lot of oomph when on the road, even with the small 1.7 liter, 4 cylinder engine. Unfortunately, it is also 33 years old, and is no longer suitable for my daily driver as there are quirks associated with the car based on its age. I have upgraded to a 2010, and it is time to let this vehicle go to someone who will truly love it, as I have. The title is branded as I was hit in the rear driver side panel in 2011, however it was completely repaired by a professional body shop, and frame was tested and not affected.
