In order to transport the Formula V cars, the VW T1 pick-up truck 1964 year construction got a slightly modified engine swap. Where adapted would easily carry the Formula V on its flatbed loading space. The original engine was removed in favor of a Porsche 914 powerplant, this engine has been tuned to produce somewhere in the region of 200hp which necessitated the addition of a new heavy-duty clutch and a new set of brakes.

But is not an original Porsche Renndienst pickup truck. As all the original Porsche Renndienst pickup trucks have vanished, destroyed by rust. Originally it was a Dove Blue Volkswagen T1 Single Cab. This pick-up has been completely restored and rebuilt up to period-correct specifications. All the details that were on the pick-ups at the time have been sourced, found, overhauled, and installed on correctly placed like of the original Porsche Renndienst pickup trucks specification above.

About the Porsche Formula V is an original factory race car built by Porsche and driven by Hans Hermann, Gerhard Mitter, and Ben Pon. It’s been restored and has a fresh set of body panels however the original panels do come with the car, it’s been thoroughly checked over since its last race outing at the Nürburgring in 2011. These little formulas had 1200 cc VW Bug engines with about 40 bhp they reached a top speed of 160 km/h. This Elfenbein single seater accompanying the VW pickup is in fact one of the two remaining Former Formula V. These cars are genuine Porsche cars as they were built by Porsche in Werk 1, and their racing was supported by the factory.
