Buy Classic Volks – Volkswagen Thing for sale in Arizona, USA. Year constructions 1973 on excellent condition, has been fully restored with some very unique features. Trevor Reis and Brickhaus Restorations in Phoenix AZ did the body and paint, and it was meticulously and correctly assembled by Roger Gomer of the Thing Shop in Chandler AZ. It has won best in its class at the last two Phoenix Bug o Rama shows.

This paint job is impressive, using original VW Flame Red with black accents. There is no chrome on this car, all chrome parts (Hinges, door handles, side view mirrors, rear view mirror, window frame, ect) have been powder coated matte black including the EMPI 5-spoke rims. The center wheel hubs are custom painted with the silver, blue and red Wolfsburg crest on a matte black hub. The side rails are a one-off custom creation by the Thing Shop using larger gauge tubular steel for a more beefy look. Front and rear bumpers, including trailer hitch fit perfectly.

The roll bars, aka show bars are Thing Shop originals engineered so that you wont bump your head while sitting up front, and are fully wrapped and padded. They include 2-pairs of speakers mounted in the roll bars.

The traditional Thing steering wheel has been replaced with a beetle wheel with horn ring, the normally white wicker parcel tray is now black. It also has a locking glove box door. The wiper motor is professionally rebuilt and works like a champ. All original Thing seat frames have been fully restored and powder coated, and the custom seats are a black tweed with red piping. The rear fold down seat panels are backed with custom coco mats that snap on creating a clean look comfortable surface on the seat backs when they are folded down. The custom coco mats are black with matching red stitching and cover the floor and the rear deck. This Thing has correct front lap belt seat belts with seat belt hangers on the door posts.

The stereo system is a brand new custom set up created by SOUNDS GOOD TO ME in Tempe AZ, and features a subwoofer and amp that ensures that even at freeway speeds you WILL hear the stereo loud and clear. Stereo features Bluetooth, CD and SAT with remote. There are 12 speakers throughout the car delivering quality sound.

The trunk features a full restored gas heater that displays as original, although I haven’t hooked it up (seems pointless given the convertible nature of the car). The trunk is lined with matching coco matting and the spare tire is original Thing sized, also powder coated matte black. The “bikini” top is in fantastic shape and fits like a glove with no fitment issues at high speeds.

The newly re-built engine is a 1776 with dual carbs and less than 1000 miles on it. All VW stickers, badges, indicator lights, buttons, and gauges are correct with exception of the front VW emblem that has been replaced with a custom peace sign of the same size and shape, that adds to the uniqueness of this amazing car.

The restoration of this car has been a labor of love and no corners were cut in the restoration. While I never thought I would put it up for sale, I have 3 other VW’s and no more room for all of them. This car is always garaged and covered and is beautiful show condition.
